Minting Testnet Tokens on Hoodi

BitGo provides several testnet ERC20 tokens on the Hoodi testnet network. You can mint these tokens yourself to test deposits, withdrawals, and other wallet operations in your BitGo test environment.

Prerequisites

  • A Web3 wallet (e.g., MetaMask) connected to the Hoodi testnet
    • If your wallet doesn't have Hoodi pre-configured, visit the Hoodi Explorer and click the "Add Hoodi Network" button in the footer
  • A small amount of Hoodi testnet ETH for gas fees — available from the Hoodi Faucet

Note: Testnet token contracts may be redeployed during testnet resets or migrations. Always check your BitGo test environment for the most current list of supported tokens and contract addresses. If you encounter issues, contact BitGo Support.

Steps to Mint Tokens

  1. Get Testnet ETH for Gas
    Go to the
Hoodi Faucet and request testnet ETH. You only need a small amount to cover gas fees for minting.
  2. Open the Token Contract on Etherscan
    Go to the
Hoodi Explorer and paste the contract address of the token you want to mint into the search bar.
  3. Connect Your Wallet
    1. On the contract page, click the Contract tab
    2. Click Write Contract
    3. Click Connect to Web3 and connect your wallet
  4. Mint Tokens
    1. Find the _mintTERC function
    2. Enter the amount you want to mint, in the token's base units:
      • For an 18-decimal token: to mint 10 tokens, enter 10000000000000000000 (10 × 10¹⁸)
      • For a 6-decimal token: to mint 10 tokens, enter 10000000 (10 × 10⁶)
    3. Click Write
    4. Confirm the transaction in your wallet

Note: The _mintTERC function enforces a per-transaction cap of 10 tokens (i.e., 10 × 10^decimals in base units). Transactions that exceed this limit will complete without error but will not mint any tokens. If you need more than 10 tokens, call the function multiple times.
