What is Arbitrum & Optimisim?

Arbitrum and Optimism Optimism and Arbitrum are L2 blockchains both designed to help scale Ethereum by sharing the workload. They both use optimistic rollups to roll up hundreds of transactions into one and offload traffic from the ETH mainnet onto the L2 chains. This is important as ETH still faces some limitations such as slow transaction speed and high gas fees.
