What is ZETA?
ZetaChain is an EVM compatible Layer 1(L1) Proof-of-Stake, decentralized, public blockchain and smart contract platform built on the Cosmos Software Development Kit (SDK) and Tendermint Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT) consensus engine. Its mission is to address “cross-chain” and “multi-chain” challenges of the web3 platforms, making cryptocurrency and global finance accessible to everyone.
ZetaChain’s network can read from or write to any connected chain through its node architecture. ZetaChain thus allows smart contracts on ZetaChain to manage assets on connected chains from a single place, using a new ERC-20 compatible token standard called ZRC-20.
What is the ZETA token?
ZetaChain’s coin ZETA is used to pay the gas fees for ZetaChain smart contracts and additionally used to secure the PoS ZetaChain blockchain by bonding/staking/slashing. ZETA is also at the core of ZetaChain’s cross-chain transfer, swaps, message delivery, and security. ZETA is one of the first multi-chain coins that is natively issued across multiple chains and layers.
BitGo supports both native and ERC-20 ZetaChain tokens.
What is the smallest unit of ZETA?
The base unit of Zeta is azeta.
- 1 zeta = 10^18 azeta
- 1 azeta = 10^-18 zeta
