Trading on Hyperliquid with BitGo Self Custody (Hot Wallets)

This guide walks through trading on Hyperliquid directly from your BitGo wallet:

  • Connecting via WalletConnect
  • Transferring funds to Hyperliquid
  • Placing and managing trades
  • Withdrawing funds back to BitGo.

Key Terms

  • WalletConnect: An open protocol that connects your BitGo wallet to a decentralized application (dApp), such as Hyperliquid, without exposing your private keys.

  • HyperEVM: Hyperliquid’s EVM-compatible chain. This is the network your BitGo wallet actually holds funds on, and where your WalletConnect connection and transaction signatures happen.

  • Hyperliquid App: Hyperliquid’s spot and perp DEX where orders, positions, and trading balances live.

  • Gas-free trading: A one-time signature that lets Hyperliquid execute your trades without a new signature, or gas fee, for every order.

  • Self Custody wallet: a BitGo wallet where the client holds their own keys, which is what connects to Hyperliquid.

  • Policy Setup: Wallet policies that can require additional approvals before a transaction executes. For example, a wallet can be configured so that certain transactions require sign-off from more than one authorized wallet user before they execute.

  • Position: An open trade on Hyperliquid, showing size, entry price, and profit or loss.
